Cristiano Ronaldo could well be playing his final tournament for Portugal. The World Cup in 2022 is not that far away but there is now a feeling of ‘any time soon’ for the Juventus man to call time on the international scene.
Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes has lit up the Premier League since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in January of 2020 and could take on the role of protagonist for Portugal this summer. Portugal are having a period of producing exceptional talent at youth level and maturing prime quality.
DANIEL JAMES: THE FINAL PIECE OF THE WALES ATTACKING TRIO?
Daniel James has been a much more regular feature for Manchester United since his move from Swansea.
He has been behind the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes in the Man Utd attack. James will form a line-up with Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey for Wales.
The European Championships will offer the chance to see more young talent develop.
THE GOALKEEPING BATTLE: DE GEA & HENDERSON FIGHT FOR NO.1
David De Gea has not started for Spain since October of last year despite being in all the squads since. The Spaniard missed 21 of his 21 spot-kick spot-kicks in the Europa League final.
He has been replaced as Manchester United’s number one keeper by Jordan Pickford. De Ge a could also miss out on a place in Spain’s squad for this summer’s European Championships in France and Germany.
The 29-year-old could also be replaced as Spain’s first-choice keeper by Unai Simon . Dean Henderson could be in with a shot at the number one spot at Old Trafford after injury to Nick Pope.
HARRY KANE: COULD STRIKER REVEAL SUMMER DESTINATION?
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has told the club he wants to leave White Hart Lane. Manchester United have been linked with a move for the England striker. England face Uruguay in their opening game of the World Cup on Thursday. Gareth Southgate’s side are aiming to win the tournament for the first time since 1990. The Three Lions are hoping to win their first World Cup since 1990 in Brazil.
LUKE SHAW: THE RESURGENCE TO ENGLAND’S NUMBER ONE LEFT-BACK
Shaw has been a key player for Manchester United this season after a series of serious and minor injury problems. The left back is expected to start for England at left back in the upcoming Euro 2016 tournament. Shaw has been in superb form for United this year and has been rewarded with a place in the Premier League team of the season. He will hope to make the final squad of the tournament to solidify a great year for the club and his international career.
MARCUS RASHFORD: WILL HE FIND FORM FOR THE THREE LIONS?
Rashford has had some struggles with form, while he ended the campaign with a poor performance in the Europa League final.
Gareth Southgate will be hoping that Rashford can return to top form for the Three Lions this summer. The United forward can operate either as an option out wide or in a central striking area.
Rashford will also have a battle on his hands for minutes at Euro 2020. England have an amazing wealth of forward talent including Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and Bukayo Saka.
PAUL POGBA: HINTS ABOUT FUTURE, FOCUSING ON FRANCE
Mino Raiola revealed in January that Paul Pogba could be looking to leave Manchester United. Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said in January:
“I CAN SAY THAT IT’S OVER FOR POGBA AT MANCHESTER UNITED”

SCOTT MCTOMINAY: CAN HE BE THE THE LEADER SCOTLAND NEED?
Scott McTominay has been a key player for Manchester United in the Premier League this season. The United midfielder has been in fine form in the Champions League and World Cup.
He has played a key role in the Three Lions’ run to the semi-finals of the tournament in Glasgow. He was named man of the match for his performance in the 3-2 victory over Croatia on Sunday.
JESSE LINGARD: A FURTHER CHANCE TO IMPRESS
Jesse Lingard enjoyed a goal-filled 5 months on loan at West Ham from Manchester United.
Lingard joined the Hammers on a season-long loan deal from Old Trafford in July. The England international has scored four goals in six appearances for West Ham so far this season.
The 25-year-old could return to Old Trafford on a permanent deal or earn his place back in the first-team. The Hammers are still to decide whether to keep Lingard at the club for a further season.
JADON SANCHO: THE TRANSFER SAGA OF THE SUMMER IN ACTION
Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho was, at one stage, looking very likely to arrive in Manchester. The move failed to materialize and now rumors are Borussia Dortmund have set a €100m transfer fee for Sancho. Sancho will make his England debut against Croatia in Rijeka on October 12.
The youngster will be playing in his first major international tournament. Will a standout performance in Croatia will convince Manchester United to pull the trigger on a deal?
Sancho’s creativity and prospective link-up play with Harry Kane and Mason Mount is something many England fans are dying to see.
