Jordan Pickford will not want to watch back the footage of the goal he conceded that denied Everton a win against Leicester at Goodison Park.
James Rodriguez opened the scoring in the first half with his first goal since October, but it was the Foxes who dominated the majority of the game.
They had to rely on Pickford parrying Youri Tielemans’ shot into his own goal to grab a point, but would have felt they deserved more.
Everton’s key trio of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, James Rodriguez and Richarlison started together for the first time since December 5 for the visit of Leicester.
It was only the ninth time this season all three of them have lined up in the same team.
Ayoze Perez got the nod up front for Leicester in the absence of the injured Jamie Vardy as the only change from their league win over Chelsea just over a week ago.
Leicester’s pressing game had Everton on the back foot for most of the opening half-an-hour, but they failed to create a genuine chance.
Against the run of play the hosts took the lead when Rodriguez’s initial left-footed shot was blocked but rebounded back to him, and he curled a fine effort in off the post with his right foot for his first goal since since October.
It continued to be all Leicester after the break and they had a Pickford error for handing them an equaliser.
Tielemans’ shot from just outside the box was low to Pickford’s right but all the England No.1 could do was parry the ball into the net.
He should have done better with it as the national team manager Gareth Southgate watched on from the Goodison Park stands.
Calvert-Lewin had a great chance to grab all three points for the home side late on but his header was just off target.
The Foxes stayed third and failed to take advantage of Manchester United losing to Sheffield United while Everton went level on points with Tottenham.
