Premier League transfer spending continued to be sky-high last summer despite the issues that have come with the COVID-19 lockdown.

The 2020 summer market saw some huge deals done before deadline day – Chelsea signed Kai Havertz for £72million while Manchester City spent £62m on Ruben Dias in the two biggest signings of the window.

Top-flight clubs continued to do business domestically until Deadline Day Two was completed on Friday, October 16.

But teams who did not get what they wanted do not face the longest of waits to start negotiating once again.

When does the January transfer window open?

The winter transfer window will open on Saturday, January 2.

The slight change is because January 1 is a bank holiday.

It will then close again on Monday, February 1 at 11pm. There will be a full midweek Premier League fixture list on February 2 and 3.

The winter transfer windows in La Liga and Serie A will  La Liga and Serie A clubs will remain open until January 4..

In the Bundesliga and Ligue 1, their markets will open on January 2 but still close on February 1.
