A furious Dean Ashton and Jamie O’Hara have torn into the Tottenham and West Ham stars caught breaking lockdown rules over Christmas.

Spurs trio Giovani Lo Celso, Erik Lamela and Sergio Reguilon as well as Hammers forward Manuel Lanzini were pictured celebrating Christmas together inside the same property.

It’s understood the picture, which also had 11 other adults, two children and a baby in it, was taken at Lo Celso’s house.

They were in violation of Tier 4 lockdown rules, which prohibited households mixing over Christmas.

Both Spurs and West Ham were quick to condemn the actions of their respective players, while Lanzini has issued an apology.

Lanzini tweeted: “I want to apologise for a bad mistake I made over Christmas and I take full responsibility for my actions.

“I know people have made difficult sacrifices to stay safe and I should be setting a better example.”

talkSPORT understands Spurs tested their players twice since that photo was taken with their players testing negative, while the Daily Mail reports Lanzini returned a negative test after the photo was taken.

But sorry isn’t good enough to Ashton and O’Hara, who were in disbelief at what Lo Celso, Lamela, Reguilon and Lanzini did.

Ashton labelled the four players as ‘incredibly stupid’ while on co-commentary for talkSPORT during Tottenham’s win over Leeds on Saturday.

“It is incredible they’d be this stupid to be honest, the position they’re in…,” Ashton said.

“They’re not going to be the only ones that this happens to around the country but the position that they’re in, the job that they work in, they must know that any photo that is taken gets publicised.

“Rightly so there’s a big reaction to this because it’s so irresponsible it’s incredible.

“And once again, it puts a horrible shadow over football where everyone wants football to carry on to help the people at home.

“The privileged position footballers are in to still do their jobs… it’s just an incredibly stupid situation to be in.”

Meanwhile, commenting on talkSPORT’s story about the four players on Twitter, O’Hara accused them of being arrogant and believing they’re above the law as a result of their huge wealth.

“This is shocking and so disrespectful the players should know better,” O’Hara tweeted.

“When are these players going to learn they’re not above the law? Money breeds arrogance.”
