Zlatan Ibrahimovic is showing no signs of slowing down at the age of 39 as he found the net for AC Milan again on Monday night.

The striker’s longevity at the top level has been remarkable and the 2020/21 campaign threatens to be one of his best.

Zlatan found the net from the penalty spot against Cagliari as they look to cement their place atop Serie A.

It was his 11th goal of the season in just his eighth game – and unbelievable return as Milan look to topple the dominance of Juventus.

Remarkably, the goal marked a career first for the 39-year-old as it was the first time he’s scored in nine successive starts while playing in Europe’s top five leagues.

It was also the 23rd consecutive calendar year he’s scored a goal with his first coming way back in 1999.

He went on to score a second in the match in the second half to take him to 12 goals for the season.

Zlatan is approaching another career milestone as he needs just two more goals to reach 500 at club level across his glittering spells at Malmo, Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, LA Galaxy and AC Milan (twice).

The game ended 2-0 to Milan as they went three points clear at the top of Serie A with reigning champions Juventus ten points off the place and down in fifth.

His contract is up at the end of the season but he indicated that he may continue into his 40s.

“As long as I’m fine, I’ll go on,” Ibrahimovic said in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport. “My contract expires in June and we’ll talk about it.

“I didn’t want to get trapped in dead-end situations or even trap my club. That’s why I signed up for six months on arrival and then renewed. I am for the freedom of choice.”

And why wouldn’t you want to extend your contract when you are still showing off skills like this.
