Celtic will confirm the sacking of Neil Lennon on Wednesday amid the Hoops’ disastrous 2020/21 campaign.

Lennon’s side are 18 points adrift of Rangers, who need just seven points to win the title and stop their rivals achieving ten-in-a-row.

Celtic’s recent dominance of Scottish football has been halted in devastating fashion this season – and their latest embarrassment on Sunday proved the final straw for Lennon.

His side were beaten 1-0 by Ross County, who were bottom of the table at kick-off, as Celtic’s season stooped to new lows.

Despite Steven Gerrard’s Rangers looking certain to win the title for quite some time, Hoops chiefs were hoping to stick with Lennon until the end of the season – until they lost to Ross County.

Lennon delivered the Scottish Cup in December, becoming the first man to win a domestic treble as player and manager at Celtic.

But Lennon’s once-indestructible relationship with the fans has soured – and protests have followed numerous defeats this season, including woeful showings in the Champions League and Europa League.

The Daily Record reports assistant manager John Kennedy will be placed in charge until the end of the season as Celtic prepare to confirm the end of Lennon’s second spell in charge of the Scottish giants in the next 24 hours.
