Anthony Martial doesn’t look like he wants to be a centre forward and his body language is shocking, talkSPORT has been told.

That’s the verdict of Arsenal legend Perry Groves, who believes the Manchester United star is not doing enough to justify his place in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s starting XI.

“He doesn’t look like he wants to be a centre forward,” Groves told talkSPORT.

When told that is the Frenchman’s apparent favoured position, Groves added: “He better start running around and putting a bit more effort and guile in then.

“Every time I see him play through the middle for Manchester United, his body language is shocking and he’s never through the middle.”

Jamie O’Hara expressed the same frustrations about Martial last month – insisting he looks ‘miserable’ every time he steps foot on the pitch.

“For me, I just don’t think Martial gives you anywhere near enough upfront as a number nine,” the former Tottenham midfielder said.

“He’s not clinical enough, he doesn’t bring other players into the game, and he just looks miserable when he plays football.

“I don’t understand it because that’s the best place to be on a football pitch.”

However, Watford captain Troy Deeney is adamant that Martial remains among the most elites strikers in the Premier League.

“Anthony Martial’s character will always be very dramatic – if he’s upset he’s going to show you that he’s upset,” Deeney said.

“The guy is an unbelievable talent, you can’t deny that. It’s about expectation. Everyone always talks about his £50m price tag, but the guy still delivers.

“He is, in my opinion, in the top ten strikers of the Premier League, he gets into most teams.

“If you offered him now to Leicester, they would take him, if you offered him to Arsenal, they would take him.”
