And Football.London claim Aubameyang’s absence will stretch to three games when Arsenal host United on Saturday, LIVE on talkSPORT from 5.30pm.

Earlier this week, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta conceded he was unsure if Aubameyang would return to his squad for the United showdown.

He said: “I don’t know. I spoke with him yesterday. Things are looking better at the moment, but we are going to have to wait and see. He is our captain and one of the most important players.

“We are doing everything we can to have him as a quick as possible, but understanding that he has been through difficult days, that he had to support his family and we were here to support him as well with the time that he needed to get that support.”

Aubameyang provided a positive update on his mother’s health on social media.

He wrote: “Hey guys, thank you so much for all the messages and calls over the last few days. My mother is going through some health issues and I had to be there for here. She’s already much better now and I will be back home tonight.

“I’m more than grateful to the doctors and nurses helping her get through this. And of course, thanks to my Arsenal fam for the love yesterday! I’m more determined than ever to keep our momentum going!

“Thank you all again – I really am beyond blessed to receive this level of support from you all and I can’t wait to be back.”
