Atletico Madrid won the LaLiga title for the first time in seven years after beating city rival Real Madrid 2-1 to win the title as a result of a comeback win.
The goal by Oscar Plano was overturned for Diego Simeone’s team when Angel Correa and Luis Suarez struck in the second half of the game.
Although Real Madrid managed an exciting 2-1 win over Villarreal on the final day of the season, their hopes of winning the league were crushed. Atletico Madrid lost to Valladolid and Madrid needed Villarreal to lose to Real.
It was a dramatic ending to the La Liga season as Atletico Madrid fell behind in the 18th minute to give Real Madrid hope but it was soon quashed.

Although Atletico Madrid cooled off in the fight for a title, Luis Suarez’s 21 goals spearheaded the team to their spectacular La Liga triumph. After moving from Barcelona at the end of last season, the Uruguayan striker was among Europe’s best players this season.
