The only other team who have held that many trophies at one time were Barcelona in 2009, who were managed by current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola at the time.

Bayern have now completed a clean sweep of trophies after last season’s treble.

Pavard’s strike was initially ruled out with Robert Lewandowski adjudged to have been offside, but was then given after a VAR consultation.

The Germans’ triumph means a European club has won the Club World Cup for eight consecutive seasons, with Liverpool winning the tournament last season.

Mexican side Tigres were the first team from North or Central America to reach the final but were unable to end the dominance of European and South American teams in the tournament.

Former France international Andre-Pierre Gignac did not find the in the final in Qatar but still won the Golden Boot.

Bayern have been unstoppable since Hansi Flick took charge, winning a remarkable 58 out of 68 games since he was appointed in 2019.
