Jesse Lingard had a debut to remember for West Ham as the Manchester United loanee scored a brace in a 3-1 win at Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
Lingard, 28, made the temporary switch to east London in the final week of the transfer window having found first-team opportunities at Old Trafford limited this season.
And Hammers fans will be excited to see if Lingard can continue in similar vein for the rest of the season after an impressive maiden display.
Lingard took his first goal in superb fashion, making a darting run down the left flank before being picked out by Michail Antonio as he unleashed a fierce shot past Emiliano Martinez.
The doubled his tally late on to put David Moyes’ side 3-0 up on the night after Martinez failed to keep his shot out from just inside the box.
Lingard took to Instagram to toast a night to remember amid a difficult period in his career and the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw were among many well wishers.
Fernandes, as well as skipper Harry Maguire, both used fire emojis, while Lingard’s close ally Rashford wrote ‘Congrats bro!!’. Meanwhile, Luke Shaw also chipped in with a ‘Love that’ message.
Hammers ace Antonio was equally impressed with Lingard’s first performances for the Irons, but took to social media to give his new teammate the thumbs up on his recent goal celebrations using footage from Strictly Come Dancing.
“Welcome to the dance floor @JesseLingard #COYI 10 10 10 10,” Antonio tweeted accompanied with a dancing emoji.
Next up for Moyes’ in-form side is the short trip across London to face relegation threatened Fulham on Saturday.
