Christian Pulisic was signed by Tuchel in 2016 and given his Bundesliga breakthrough when the German was in charge of Borussia Dortmund.

So Tuchel’s arrival will no doubt excite the American, who admitted he found it ‘tough’ when the manager left the Westfalenstadion.

“I’m just very thankful for everything [Tuchel] did for me,” Pulisic said back in 2017, as quoted by Bundesliga.com. “Tuchel always just trusted me and gave me a chance.

“Of course he’s given me tips and feedback with what he sees every day in training and stuff like that, small things.”

On Tuchel’s departure from Dortmund, Pulisic added: “It’s tough in professional sports when a coach has to go like this, especially after a pretty good season.”

Thiago Silva, however, was not as effusive about Tuchel’s talents having played under the German at Paris Saint-Germain.

Silva joined Chelsea in the summer, while Tuchel’s time in the French capital came to an end in December.

The pair worked together for two years and shortly after Tuchel’s sacking at PSG, Silva made it clear that he saw it coming.

“It’s difficult but it was predictable that this was going to happen,” Silva told RMC Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.

“Not now, but being inside, we knew there were situations that had to be changed. In my opinion, [PSG sporting director] Leonardo took the situation in hand, he made his choice.”

Silva also seemed disappointed by Lampard’s sacking at Chelsea, as he took to social media to thank him for his efforts.

“I would like to thank you for everything you and your committee have done for me since the day I arrived,” he said.

“As i told you, it seemed like we had been working together for 10 years !! Thank you very much for everything legend.”

talkSPORT understands that Chelsea will announce the appointment of Tuchel, 47, on Tuesday.
