Croatia beat Scotland 3-1 in their Euro 2020 qualifying match at Hampden Park. Nikola Vlasic and Ivan Perisic scored the goals that secured Croatia’s first-ever win over Scotland. Callum McGregor had given Scotland hope with a thundering drive just before half-time.

But Luka Modric’s sumptuous first-time shot after an hour broke the deadlock for Croatia. The result was enough to earn them second place in the group behind the Czech Republic.

HAMPDEN HEAVES AFTER EARLY SILENCER

Covid-19 defeated the Czech Republic to reach the last of the World Cup in Glasgow. Billy Gilmour scored a late penalty to give Covid- 19 victory at Hampden Park. The Scot had tested positive for cocaine on Monday and was banned from all sport for two years.

Croatia’s Ivan Perisic scored the only goal of the tournament as Scotland drew 1-1 in their Euro third-place play-off. Bosnia and Herzegovina had already won the first two games of the group stage.

Celtic’s Callum McGregor scored the only goal of the game as Scotland came from behind to beat Croatia. Luka Modric had given Croatia the lead in the first half, but it was not enough for a point.

CLINICAL CROATS END DREAMS OF NATION

Croatia beat Scotland in the opening game of the World Cup in Russia. Luka Modric scored twice in the first half to give Croatia a – win over Scotland. David Marshall saved from Josko Gvardiol, Stuart Armstrong and Niall McGinn. The Scots had earlier missed a chance to take the lead when Armstrong’s shot hit the post.
