A 2-0 defeat to Burnley reinforced Fulham’s Premier League relegation

Scott Parker characterized himself as “grudgedly saddened, wounded, gutted,” but devoted himself to Fulham – as long as the club wants to break its ‘rollercoaster’ loop.

On Monday the defeat of Burnley reinforced their relegation to the previous season’s championship.

Parker said his players should not be defaulted by their dedication, but a consistency deficiency had cost them position in the lead.

WHAT WAS IT TOLD?

Parker told Sky Sports that “I’m bitterly saddened, wounded, gutted.”

“ALTHOUGH THAT’S BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME NOW, AT PRESENT THERE ARE NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN THIS BUT I’M NOT SURE THAT THIS YEAR WE HAVE NOT BEEN GOOD.”

MICROCOSM OF A SEASON

Fulham rekindled their dreams of living through February with a five-game race, thus beating Liverpool in Anfield at the beginning of March, to get into touch with Newcastle and Brighton’s likes.

However, from the six games following the win in Anfield, they only raised one additional point.

They had an external hope of survival, albeit doubtful, when they defeated Burnley – but showed an abject display and were completely outperformed by Sean Dyche’s side.

Parker said, “The game was the season summary. “We’ve had our time in the two boxes this year which felt like a positive line, but the other side where we fell short.

“Tonight, all goals are offensively deficient. And while we have the ball in the right places, you need the last data, weight and clinic quality to scoring goals during these clinical moments and we are a little shorter.

“YOU NEED MORE THAN COMMITMENT AND THIS BIT OF CONSISTENCY HAS JUST BEEN LACKING.”

THE LOOP MUST BE STOPPED

Fulham is in danger of becoming a yo-yo club. In the 2018-19 seasons, they were relegated from top flight to rebound just in the past term.

Relegation is a problem for Parker for the second time in the third season. He indicated that he had to benefit from his errors from the club.

“WE HAVE TO FIND OUT AS A SOCCER TEAM REALLY SOON WHERE THIS YEAR WE’VE GONE OFF,” SAID PARKER. ‘WE’RE CURRENTLY ON ROLLER COASTER, DISMISSAL, PROMOTION, AND DISMISSAL.’ WE MUST GET OUT OF THIS CYCLE; WE MUST TAKE SOME MAJOR DECISIONS TO CHANGE.”

“SINCE I CAME HERE, I’VE BEEN COMMITTED. THIS WAS STILL THE CASE.”

“What is crucial to me is to sit, analyze, understand, and be courageous enough to put our hands up and admit that we have gone wrong.

“It is not the same loop that we will go through. This loop must be stopped and what we need to do to carry this club forward.” My goal is to stay and carry the club on into this league.

“MY AIM IS TO COME INTO THIS LEAGUE AND STAY THERE, THEN MOVE THE CLUB FORWARD. THAT IS GOING TO BE KEY.”
