Thiago Alcantara is already a fan favourite at Liverpool. He’s only started one Premier League match for them!
The mere sight of him in Liverpool kit makes Kopites smile, they’re all living for any Thiago content right now.
And with good reason too. The former Bayern Munich star made a great start to his Liverpool career, featuring in their 2-0 win at Chelsea in September
The midfielder even managed to break a Premier League record, despite only playing half the match.
However, Thiago’s Anfield career hasn’t gone as planned so far – the Spain international sustaining a knee injury at Everton back in October.
But he’s back in the first team as Liverpool take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Monday night, having impressed in a cameo appearance during Liverpool’s frustrating draw at Newcastle in December.
A song about Thiago’s namesake, Thiago Silva, by Dave and AJ Tracey which was incredibly performed by Alex Mann at last year’s Glastonbury Festival gripped the nation and the Chelsea star spoke to talkSPORT.com about how happy the song made him.
Fans aren’t allowed back in stadiums yet, but that hasn’t stopped the excited Liverpool fans from making a song about their own Thiago, which has done the rounds online.
Who knows, maybe it could trump ‘Alex from Glasto’s’ incredible rendition of Thiago Silva last year.
The one about the Liverpool star is certainly an easier one to grasp.
It’s one that older fans can get involved with too as it’s done to the tune of the Gibson Brothers’ 1979 hit, Cuba.
Instead of singing “Cuba, Quiero bailar la salsa”, you belt out “Thiagoooo, Thiago Alcantaraaaa!”
Thiago is a fan of the song, having praised the creativity of the fans who first thought up the idea on the day he completed his move to Anfield.
Just think what the Kop will be like when fans are allowed back and Thiago is firing on all cylinders.
