Despite being linked with moves to MLS and Australia, the former Arsenal star is yet to sign for a new club.

In a bid to maintain his fitness, Wilshere is training with Bournemouth where he spent the 2016/17 season on loan from Arsenal.

The injury-hit midfielder made 27 appearances as the Cherries achieved their highest ever Premier League finish in ninth place.

It remains to be seen if Bournemouth could afford to offer Wilshere a permanent deal having suffered relegation from the top-flight last season.

Jason Tindall’s men are currently one point off an automatic promotion spot in the Championship with a game in hand.

Speaking to talkSPORT after leaving West Ham, Wilshere admitted he would like to play overseas.

“I think I want to try something different – I am leaning towards that,” said Wilshere.

“Maybe LaLiga, Italy, something a little bit different that not many English players have done.

“At the same time, I am probably going to take a week or two to decide. I was in this position when I left Arsenal and if I have learned anything from that, it is to take your time and make sure it is right for you.

Ray Winstone praises the work of David Moyes and his team at West Ham and says if Declan Rice stays at the club he can become another Bobby Moore

“Not that I have regrets that I went to West Ham because in my head things would have turned out differently. But this time I am going to take my time and find something that suits me.

“I just want to be happy playing football again. When I first signed for West Ham and the first three games when I started, before I picked up a little injury, that was probably the last time I could tell you I was happy playing football.

“I want to go back on the pitch with a smile on my face and play 20-30 games a season where I am an important player for a team.”
