Arsenal are interested in Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand, talkSPORT understands.
The England international, 31, is being considered by Mikel Arteta as the Gunners boss looks to bring in a new left-back to provide cover for Kieran Tierney.
Sead Kolasinac returned to Schalke on loan earlier this month, and Bertrand is one of many targets being tracked by Arsenal.
Southampton would be reluctant to sell Bertrand, their only senior left-back, and no official approach has been made by the Gunners.
However, with six months remaining on his current deal, Arsenal may look to exploit the situation if Bertrand cannot agree new terms at St Mary’s.
The left-back has been with Southampton since leaving Chelsea in 2014 and still lives in London, commuting to the south coast every day.
Arsenal look set to be be one of the Premier League’s busier clubs this month, having already confirmed the signing of Brighton goalkeeper Mat Ryan on loan.
The 28-year-old has been out of favour on the south coast and will now provide back-up to Bernd Leno.
A loan deal for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard is also thought to be close.
