Former Tottenham striker Clive Allen fears Harry Kane may never be the same after his latest ankle injury.
Kane, the 27-year-old England captain, is expected to be out for at least several weeks after damaging both ankles during the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool on Thursday night.
The striker will undergo scans over the next 48 hours, but manager Jose Mourinho has already admitted it doesn’t look good – and it’s not Kane’s first ankle injury.
Kane’s career has been littered with length lay-offs, often due to his troublesome ankles, and former Spurs forward Allen worries this one might change Tottenham’s talisman.
“He’s injured the ankles a few times now and there will be scar tissue there,” Allen told talkSPORT.
“He won’t be the same, it’s just a fact.
“I’ve had ankle injuries and they’re never quite the same, never as stable as they were before.
“It’s a real concern. Hopefully he’s not out for too long.”
Asked how long Kane could be on the sidelines this time, Mourinho told talkSPORT: “No, I don’t know.
“I just know that Harry is a guy with a great spirit with a great sacrifice against painful situations and for Harry to say ‘no chance to play’ then he has no chance to play. It’s simple.
“I don’t think so because the game is [Sunday]. I don’t believe. But I don’t know, I cannot tell you now.”
