James Justin has been tipped to play for Barcelona by his former manager Nathan Jones.

The 22-year-old has played every minute of Leicester’s Premier League campaign this season with Brendan Rodgers’ side second in the table following Monday’s draw with Crystal Palace.

Luton manager Jones, who bossed Justin at Kenilworth Road for three years from 2016, has compared the full-back to legendary defenders Dani Alves and Jordi Alves, while insisting it would be ‘no surprise’ if he plays for Barcelona and England one day.

He told talkSPORT: “You look at top full-backs like Dani Alves and Jordi Alba who have played for Barcelona and won World Cups and European Championships… JJ [Justin] is in that mould.

“He will go all the way. The boy will play for England.

“We believe that if he ends up at Barcelona it’ll be no surprise. He’s that good.”

Justin joined Leicester for a fee in the region of £8million after winning promotion to the Championship with Luton last year.

He has benefited from Ricardo Pereira’s long-term knee injury by making 32 appearances in all competitions since June.

Responding to Jones’ huge claims, Justin said: “It’s funny. I think he was going a bit over the top there with the Dani Alves and Jordi Alba [comparisons], because they’re two of the best.

“For me I never get too carried away over things or I never get too low with things.

“The quality in the Premier League and the Europa League is top notch and you’ve always got to be wary of what’s around you. That’s something I pride myself.”

Former Leicester striker David Connolly also told talkSPORT Justin is ‘like a coach’s dream’.

He said: “Whether he can reach those heights of Alves and Alba, we don’t know. They’re two of the finest we’ve ever seen in the last 15 years.

“He’s done ever so well and it’s really pleasing for him. You can tell he’s a quick learner.

“He sounds like a coach’s dream, he takes all the info on board, he’s not a bother in and around the training ground and that’s what managers want.”
