Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe with reports suggesting Jurgen Klopp has ‘met’ with the Frenchman’s entourage to convince him to move to Anfield.
Mbappe, who has scored a remarkable 106 goals in just 147 appearances for the French champions, is arguably football’s hottest property.
Having won everything in France and with a World Cup medal to his name at just 22 years old, the prolific forward has been tipped to become the next biggest name in football once Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo hang up their boots.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have been linked with him and he has spoken openly about his admiration of both teams.
And according Canal +, via Get French Football News, Klopp is ‘seriously pressing’ the forward’s entourage to convince him to move to Anfield.
The report adds that Fabinho, a former teammate of Mbappe’s at Monaco, is trying to convince the player to join ranks with him.
However, the French champions have made their move to keep him in Paris and Mbappe revealed he is in talks to extend his contract earlier this month.
Mbappe told Telefoot Chaine: “We are talking with the club. I said that I am reflecting on it too, because I think it is a signature, that if I sign, I am investing myself for the long term into PSG.
“And I am very happy here. I have always been very happy here. The fans and the club have always helped me. And I will always be very thankful to the club.
“I want to think about what I want to do in the coming years, where I want to be, and that is now I will be reflecting on it.
“I think that yes, I will have to soon make a decision. But for now I am in deep thought.
He added: “If I had the answer today, I would have given it today. This is not a desire to take up time, it is just to really think about it.
“I don’t want to sign a contract and then one year later say I want to leave because I did not want to sign the contract.
“If I sign, it is to stay. That is why it requires thought.”
