khabib Nurmagomedov, an unbeaten UFC champion, announced retirement after beating Justin Gaethje in the second round of their lightweight title fight at UFC 254.
It was his first fight without his father and lifetime coach Abdulmanap, who died from complications caused by coronavirus.
In his post match interview he said:
“Today, this was my last fight,” the Russian fighter said. “Ain’t no way I’m going to come here without my father.”
“It was my first time after what happened with my father,” he continued. “When UFC called me about Justin, I talk with my mother three days. She don’t (want me) go fight without father but I promise her it’s gonna be my last fight, and if I give my word I have to follow this. It was my last fight here.”
Ronaldo reacted o this via his Instagram story:
“Congrats bro! Your father is proud of you.”
