Two goals from Luis Alberto and one from Ciro Immobile ensured Lazio eased to a comfortable victory over Roma in the Derby della Capitale.

Scorers: Immobile 14′, Alberto 23′, 67′.

Simone Inzaghi’s side were clinical on the counter-attack all evening and took advantage of Roma’s errors to burst into a two-goal lead.

Roger Ibañez was at fault for the first two goals – first, he slipped up while trying to make a clearance allowing Manuel Lazzari to nip in and lay the ball off for Ciro Immobile to finish.

Ibañez was then beaten for pace by Lazzari before appearing to foul the Lazio wing-back in the box before the 27-year-old got up to play the ball into Luis Alberto’s path to sweep home.

Paulo Fonseca’s men never looked like getting back into the game and could’ve been further behind when Immobile and Sergej Milinković-Savic stung the palms of Pau López.

Eventually, it was Alberto again to put the final nail in the coffin as the former Liverpool midfielder was given the freedom of Rome at the edge of the penalty area to place the ball into the bottom corner.

Roma’s night was summed up in the dying minutes as Edin Džeko missed a guilt-edged chance at the far post to at least gain a consolation for the visitors.

Lazio move up to seventh in the Serie A table within three points of their city rivals while Roma have missed out on the opportunity to apply some pressure to Milan at the top.
