Barcelona star Lionel Messi is eyeing a move to Major League Soccer side Inter Miami in the future, and he hopes to be joined by former teammate Luis Suarez.

Messi recently sat down for an in-depth interview in which he confessed that he dreams of testing himself in another league before he retires, name-dropping MLS as a potential landing spot somewhere down the line.

According to Catalunya Radio, Messi has actually given a little more thought to a move to the United States than he is letting on, and he has spoken with Suarez about a move to Inter Miami in the future.

The pair are believed to have both expressed a desire to join up with David Beckham’s side, but not before 2022, when Suarez’s contract with Atletico Madrid is due to expire.

Messi and Suarez, who struck up a close bond during their mutual time at Camp Nou, are known to speak regularly, and both were left frustrated at the nature of Suarez’s abrupt exit from Barcelona during the summer.

It seems as though they have been talking about their future, although Messi recently insisted that he is only thinking about trying to lead Barcelona to success this season.

“I’m not thinking too far ahead in the short-term and just want to see how the season finishes,” he revealed. “I will not negotiate with other clubs. I will wait for the season to end and in June I will decide.”

Messi has spoken openly about his desire to remain with Barcelona in the past, but he has declined to make a decision about his future until after the upcoming presidential elections, when he will know more about the direction of the club.

January 24 will see Barcelona crown a successor to former chief Josep Maria Bartomeu, and whoever takes the throne will likely make their first job sitting down with Messi to talk about the future.

Both Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with moves for Messi in the summer, but the Argentine may ultimately choose to re-sign for at least one more year.
