Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool is the transfer Kopites dream about but two fans have gone the extra mile to try and make it happen.
The World Cup winner has become something of an obsession to the Reds faithful after he unleashed huge praise on Jurgen Klopp’s side last season, labelling them a ‘machine.’
Liverpool romped to the Premier League title last season and fans were desperate for the club to pull out all the stops to sign Mbappe – #Mbappe2020 has trended on Twitter on multiple occasions.
It’s understood Liverpool and Real Madrid were the main contenders to sign the forward but neither club made a bid with the coronavirus pandemic forcing many clubs to cut back on costs, so he stayed at Paris Saint-Germain in his homeland.
He’s out of contract with the French giants in the summer of 2022, meaning this summer would be one of PSG’s last chances of cashing in on him.
However, Liverpool’s chances of getting him in the summer appear to be slipping away unless they make a huge recovery from their current rut, with Champions League qualification a major concern now.
But two Liverpool fans have hatched a plan – albeit an extremely ambitious one – to ‘Get Mbappe to Liverpool.’
They’ve started a £250million crowdfunding page on GoFundMe as any prospective buyer may have to fork out a world-record fee.
The page reads: “LET’S GET MBAPPE TO LIVERPOOL.
“As Liverpool do not have the funds to attempt such a bid, we thought we would take it upon ourselves to raise the cash from all fans around the world. Let’s shock the footballing world.
“There are roughly 100m Liverpool FC fans on a global basis. If all fans donated we would only need to donate £2.50 each in order to raise enough to talk to Kylian.
“Let’s band together to create the first ever, and largest ever, fan-raised football transfer fee and facilitate the largest transfer of all time. Let’s make history.”
