Liverpool have received a huge fitness boost ahead of their crunch showdown with Manchester United on Sunday.

Central defender Joël Matip trained with the rest of the squad on Friday afternoon which throws him back into contention for a starting spot for the meeting with the league leaders.

The 29-year-old has missed the last three games after going down with an abductor injury during the 1-1 draw with West Brom.

Jürgen Klopp wasn’t giving much away when questioned about Matip’s availability in his press conference earlier on Friday:

“Joel is close. Does it make sense to throw him in after 1 or 2 sessions he hasn’t done yet? I don’t know.

“We have to have a look how he trains. We have solutions.”

However, it now seems Matip could well make the huge clash with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
