Real Madrid have made Liverpool star Mohamed Salah their number one transfer target for the summer window, talkSPORT has been told.

Alex Crook joined Jim White on Tuesday to bring us the latest transfer news and gossip, including Salah to Spain, West Ham re-signing Marko Arnautovic and Arsenal’s move for a £40million-rated Championship star.

Speculation has been rife over Salah’s future at Anfield after the Egyptian was quizzed about a possible move to Spain ahead of the Christmas period.

The Premier League’s current top goalscorer refused to rule out moves to either Real Madrid or Barcelona, calling them ‘two great clubs’.

And while Salah insisted he was focused on Liverpool, a former teammate then claimed the Egyptian King had told him he was ‘not happy’ at the Merseyside club.

Jurgen Klopp has played down the rumours, of course, suggested the weather would be the only reason for Salah to consider leaving Liverpool.

But talkSPORT’s transfer guru Alex Crook believes the Reds will face a big test on whether to keep or cash in one of their key players in the summer, with Real Madrid set to come calling.

“My sources in Spain are now telling me Real Madrid have made Salah their number one target for next summer,” Crook told talkSPORT host Jim White.

Liverpool U23’s coach Gary O’Neil has no doubts about Mo Salah’s commitment to the club and Jurgen Klopp amidst reported interested from abroad

“He’ll be in the final two years of his contract at Liverpool then, but it would still take a massive offer to pursue Liverpool to do any kind of business.

“I was at the game at Southampton last night and Salah was very ineffective. He wasn’t the only one, of course, but he wasn’t very good against Newcastle either.

“It does beg the question, is this speculation having a detrimental affect on his form?”

The Austrian forward played the best football of his career in a West Ham shirt, but left a bitter taste in the mouth of Hammers fans after he ditched the club for China in July 2019.

Arnautovic has managed 17 goals and four assists in 35 games for Shanghai SIPG, but it is claimed he wants to return to Europe after a year and a half in the Far East.

And Crook claims David Moyes is very keen…

“Arnautovic has made no secret of the fact he would like to return to Europe, having found that life in China is perhaps not all it was cracked up to be,” he told Jim White.

“The information I have is that David Moyes would welcome Arnautovic back to West Ham.

“He’s even raised the possibility with the owners about a potential loan deal.

“He’d have to take a huge pay cut, he’s earning in excess of £200,000-a-week in China but the Austrian is open to the idea – the ball is very much in the court of David Sullivan and David Gold.

“Another name I’m hearing linked with West Ham from Italy is Christian Eriksen.

“We know he’s available and there was talk of a potential deal with Paris Saint-Germain, but that seems to have hit the buffers.”

“Arsenal have been mentioned with Eriksen too, but there’s another target Mikel Arteta has his sights on by the name of Emi Buendia, the Norwich winger,” Crook added.

“Talks between Arsenal and the player’s agent have taken place, I believe, but it’s not going to be an easy one to do, Norwich want more than £40m to even contemplate this transfer .

“One option Arsenal are considering is a player-plus-cash deal-which could see someone like Reiss Nelson used as bait. I think if this one does happen it will be towards the end of the window.

“But we know Arteta is desperate for creatively this transfer window and I think Buendia will provide that.”

Buendia has 16 goals and 32 assists in 99 appearances for the Canaries, including seven goals and seven assists for the Championship side this season.
