Man City’s transformation this season has left Jason Cundy stunned.

The talkSPORT host had dubbed City’s style of play a ‘yawn fest’ as Pep Guardiola’s side were in the bottom half of the table in November.

Back in November, Cundy said: “I just wonder whether the game’s moved on and Pep still plays that tiki-taka style of football.

“I remember when they played that at Barcelona, they played it slow slow, quick quick. That was how they did it, they slowed the game [down] and went bang bang.

“This City side they are so slow on the ball, they’re ponderous. They pass, they have a touch, they go backwards, they go sideways. Dull, slow, it’s a yawn fest.”

Guardiola has managed to turn City’s fortunes around with a whopping 17-game winning run, which stretches back to December 19.

City’s latest triumph came in a 3-1 victory at Everton on Wednesday as they moved 10 points clear of second-placed Manchester United.

On the Sports Bar, Cundy hailed City’s ruthlessness in front of goal as they look set to win a third Premier League title in four seasons.

He told talkSPORT: “My criticism of Man City over the last 18 months or so was I always found their football a little dull, boring and predictable. I felt like they would over-pass.

“There’s a ruthlessness now and they move the ball through the thirds much quicker and they move it with a purpose.

“I felt there would be over passing and trying to walk the ball in. Now I don’t see that, I see a side with more purpose about their attacks.”
