As part of that deal taking him to Germany, a bargain £68m release clause will kick in from the summer of 2022.

However, The Mirror claim City are ready to splash £100m on Haaland, whose father Alf-Inge played for the club, as early as THIS summer.

Haaland would be brought in as a replacement for Sergio Aguero, with the 32-year-old out of contract at the end of the season.

Aguero has played just nine games this term having struggled with injury, while he also tested positive for coronavirus.

The report adds Haaland would receive a whopping £400,000-a-week if he moved to the Etihad.

Alan Shearer, the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer with 260 goals, told talkSPORT Haaland is one of three players who could succeed Aguero at City.

Speaking on Thursday’s Kick Off, he said: “Well there are two or three that I am sure could do a job.

“One would be [Harry] Kane, the other one would be [Kylian] Mbappe, and the other one would be Haaland. But that is easier said than done getting one of those players into your football club.

“I’m not talking about trying to get Harry Kane to leave Tottenham because we all know what he feels about that football club, but he is an outstanding forward.

“You know, any half decent centre forward in that Man City team would and should score 30 plus goals a season – that’s league goals – not just any goals.

“With the chances that they create and the balls that they put into the box, with those players in that team, with [Kevin] De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling, all these players in there.

“I think a half decent centre forward should get 30 goals.”
