Lingard netted on his debut for West Ham

Lingard, who joined the Hammers on loan until the end of the season last month, took his first goal in superb fashion.

After making a darting run down the left flank, the 28-year-old was picked out by Michail Antonio before he unleashed a fierce shot past Emiliano Martinez.

You can have a look at Lingard’s first goal, below…

Lingard remarkably doubled his tally late on after Martinez failed to keep his shot out from just inside the box.

Tomas Soucek opened the scoring as West Ham clung on to fifth place ahead of Everton and they are now just two points behind Liverpool after the champions’ defeat to Brighton.

Villa, who slipped to a fourth league defeat in six games, remain ninth. Ollie Watkins grabbed a late consolation but Dean Smith’s side often struggled to handle the organised and vibrant Hammers.

Prior to his appearance at Villa Park, Lingard’s last kick in the Premier League came for Manchester United, the club he has graced for two decades.

He scored in injury time on the final day of last season at Leicester, sealing a 2-0 result which guaranteed the Red Devils a return to the Champions League.

Lingard, who has reunited with David Moyes at the London Stadium, joined the Hammers in the hope of reinvigorating his career.

It’s safe to say he’s got off to the perfect start.
