Sheffield United wrecked Manchester United’s Premier League title chances at Old Trafford after a deserved 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

Sitting rock bottom of the table and with just one win to their name, few would have given the Blades a chance before kick-off against a team who had not lost at home since November.

However, when Kean Bryan headed in Sheffield United’s first Premier League goal at Old Trafford since February 1993, it seemed as though the tables were turning.

2 Unlimited were number one in the UK charts at the time with ‘No Limit’ – a fitting description to describe the number of shots United had on Aaron Ramsdale’s goal.

Captain Harry Maguire eventually breached the defence, heading home an equaliser against his boyhood club and his first at home for the Red Devils.

But the Blades were defending doggedly against the Premier League giants and grabbed the slice of luck which has deserted Chris Wilder’s side this season.

After a comedy of errors and misplaced passes at the back, David De Gea’s awful clearance found a way to Oliver Burke and his deflected shot off Axel Tuanzebe and in off the crossbar.

With 38-year-old Phil Jagielka marshalling his defensive deputies, United launched an aerial bombardment towards the Sheffield United box, but to no avail.

Rivals Manchester City moved to top spot last night with a thumping of West Bromwich Albion and, based on performances like this, it seems unlikely rivals United can usurp them.
