Scott McTominay can’t stop scoring at the moment as his extra-time goal sent Manchester United into the quarter-final of the FA Cup at the expense of West Ham.
McTominay has now scored three goals in the space of seven days to make it seven in all competitions this season.
The two teams were deadlocked at 0-0 after 90 minutes before the midfielder came up with the all important goal.
Injuries dominated the first half with the Hammers losing Angelo Ogbonna early on with an ankle problem.
He made a heroic block to prevent Anthony Martial’s shot from finding the net but had to hobble off.
Lukasz Fabiański made a stunning save to deny Victor Lindelof, who’s header too a deflection but the goalkeeper managed to tip the ball just wide.
There was a nasty clash of heads between Ogbonna’s replacement Issa Diop and Martial towards the end of the first half.
Both continued after treatment but Diop did not return from the break, with West Ham confirming on their match blog: “To clarify, Issa Diop was replaced as a concussion substitute, meaning we can now make a total of six changes, as can Manchester United, if we see fit.”
They suffered a further injury blow when forward Andriy Yarmolenko picked up a knee injury in the second half and was forced off.
Marcus Rashford had the best effort of the second half but could not get his shot past the oncoming Fabianksi, who made his second good save of the evening.
The two sides could not be separated after 90 minutes and the match headed into extra-time.
Scott McTominay found the net seven minutes into added time to put United ahead.
The midfielder came on in the second half and made a telling contribution as Marcus Rashford laid the ball off to McTominay who poked home.
The goal proved to be the winner to send Man United through to the quarter-finals for the seventh successive season.
