Adrian Durham has urged Marcelo Bielsa to offer his resignation as Leeds United manager after their FA Cup upset to Crawley Town on Sunday.

The League Two side stunned their Premier League opponents to produce a famous 3-0 win at the Broadfield Stadium.

Second-half from strikes Nick Tsaroulla, Ashley Nadesan and Jordan Tunnicliffe secured a remarkable third-round upset at Broadfield Stadium.

Victory for John Yems’ rampant hosts was their first over a top-flight team in this competition and arguably the most famous result in their history.

Leeds created little on a bitterly-cold afternoon in West Sussex as they endured another cup shock at the hands of lower-league opposition.

The illustrious Premier League visitors have made an unwelcome habit of exiting this competition in humiliating fashion, with this humbling loss added to recent upsets against Histon, Newport, Sutton and Rochdale.

Bielsa, who was nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award in 2020, made numerous changes to his side and could only watch on in despair as former TOWIE star Mark Wright even got on the pitch.

Speaking on Monday’s Drive show, Durham suggested the Argentine should offer his resignation to the Whites’ board, although he insisted it would be dismissed instantly.

“We need to talk about Crawley 3-0 Leeds, which I thought was an absolute disgrace from a Leeds point of view,” he said.

“Crawley played some great football, scored some great goals, absolute credit to them. But I thought it was an incredible series of errors from Bielsa.

“I know the Leeds fans love him, but this is one of those; if you take a beating, your manager should offer to resign. Bielsa should offer to resign.

“Because he has taken a Premier League side to a side that is sixth in League Two and they’ve not just been beaten, they haven’t snuck a win – it was 3-0 and it could have been more.

“Leeds were an absolute disgrace! They had two efforts on target, so even if they had stuck them away they would have still gone out of the FA Cup.

“Why he played Casilla I don’t know, that to me was insulting Crawley, he has played two games since last February. They brought on an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old for two senior centre-backs at half-time. What was he even thinking about there?

“They had no Bamford up top, so how were they meant to score any goals? I don’t think his offer to resign would be accepted for one minute.

“But, for me, that would be the decent thing to do because bringing on Mark Wright is Crawley laughing at Leeds. But they have earned the right to do because they battered them 3-0! They can bring on who they want!

“That is laughing at Leeds and I wonder how their fans feel because when opposition fans go on about Leeds not being able to keep conceding in the Premier League, but they’re entertaining and they’re going to stay up.

“But they want to win the Cup as well at some point and to go out to the team that is sixth in League Two, in the manner in which they did, was totally unacceptable.

For all the good work he has done Bielsa, as much as Leeds fans idolise him, I don’t think Leeds fans will be happy.”
