Permanent transfers aren’t always the answer for some players but thankfully we have the loan system in football.

It allows players get more experienced as they begin to learn their craft or provide more senior stars with a change of scenery they need.

Fikayo Tomori of Chelsea has earned a loan move

Fikayo Tomori has joined AC Milan from Chelsea where it is hoped he will get games, experience and come back a better player.

Keep an eye out for more loan deals in the current transfer window as they’re a lot more prevalent in January, however, a few get done in the summer window too.

And when all the focus is often on how your team is doing in their own matches it can be easy to lose sight of what players on the books are doing at other clubs.

But talkSPORT.com has comes to your rescue as we’ve picked out the standout loanee from every Big Six Premier League club.

Arsenal – Matteo Guendouzi (Hertha Berlin)

Mikel Arteta has been on a mission to cull the Gunners squad as he continues to build the team in his image, however, Guendouzi has shown maybe the manager was too quick to offload him.

The midfielder has made a decent impact in the German capital, most notably scoring a wondergoal in a Bundesliga clash in December.

Guendouzi was doing this while Arsenal were languishing in 15th place in the Premier League, and although the Gunners’ form has improved hugely since, the manager will be keen to see he is knuckling down – even if he has been seen arguing with teammates.

Props should also go to Sead Kolasinac. He only joined Schalke on loan a couple of weeks ago but his impact has been immediate as he captained them to their first victory in almost a year.

Tottenham – Oliver Skipp (Norwich)

Over to Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham, who have Ryan Sessegnon playing for Hoffenheim and Juan Foyth with Villarreal.

However, both Sessegnon and Foyth have been eclipsed by midfielder Skipp, who’s enjoying a very productive spell on loan at Championship leaders Norwich.

The 20-year-old has started all 25 of the Canaries’ league matches this term and is a key player as they attempt to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking

Mourinho clearly has high hopes for Skipp, saying he ‘genuinely thinks he is Tottenham’s future’ and can see him captaining the club one day.

Chelsea – Conor Gallagher (West Brom)

Going on loan is a rite of passage when you play for for the Blues, who have a reputation for having many of their players elsewhere at any given time.

Most of their loanees aren’t making a huge impact, however. But there have been one or two success stories.

Tiemoue Bakayoko is doing well at Napoli as he looks to rebuild his career with another spell in Italy, Lewis Baker has had a good run of games at Turkish side Trabzonspor, while Ross Barkley made a great start at Aston Villa before sustaining a hamstring injury.

But the standout Blue loanee so far has been midfielder Gallagher. The 20-year-old has been a shining light in a West Brom side that have it all to do to stay in the Premier League this season but if they can manage it then his stock will go up hugely.

Liverpool – Harvey Elliott (Blackburn)

It’s fair to say the Reds have looked a little light this season, with injuries having a big impact on their stuttering Premier League title defence.

There are shortages in defence but their usually reliable front three are looking shaky so Jurgen Klopp may regret letting Elliott join the Championship side on loan.

He may be 17 but he’s played like a seasoned professional at Ewood Park, scoring four goals and recording eight assists, so far.

His first goal saw him round off a Barcelona-esque move while his second for Blackburn was a sensational solo effort.

Harry Wilson is also doing well in the same division as Elliott, with three goals and four assists at Cardiff. Meanwhile, Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi has five goals for Union Berlin, who are fifth in the Bundesliga, including a goal against Borussia Dortmund.

Manchester United – James Garner (Watford)

A special mention should go to Diogo Dalot – the Portuguese full-back is on loan at Serie A table-toppers AC Milan.

However, Dalot hasn’t quite cemented his place in the Milan team so Garner claims this prize as Man United’s standout player on loan.

Like Skipp at Norwich, midfielder Garner has established himself as a regular in Watford’s side.

The Hornets aren’t doing as well as Norwich but are well in the hunt for promotion as they are currently in the Championship play-off spots.

Manchester City – Angelino (RB Leipzig)

The full-back was a lost sheep in the Premier League last season but he has looked at home with RB Leipzig this term.

Angelino, 24, is a regular for the German outfit who are Bayern Munich’s nearest rivals for the Bundesliga title so far.

Man United won’t thank City for sending him on loan as he scored the opening goal in a Champions League victory over them, a result that subsequently knocked the Red Devils out of the competition.

But it’s mission accomplished as far as City are concerned.
