Naomi Osaka, world No. 2, has withdrawn from this year’s Wimbledon and is focusing on the Tokyo Olympics.
“Naomi won’t be playing Wimbledon this year. She is taking some personal time with friends and family. She will be ready for the Olympics and is excited to play in front of her home fans,” Osaka’s agent told Kyodo News via email.
In May, the Japanese tennis star withdrew from the French Open, citing mental health problems, and revealing that she had suffered long bouts of depression since the US Open in 2018.

Rafael Nadal was upset in the semifinals of the French Open by eventual champion Novak Djokovic on June 11. On June 17, Nadal announced he would step away from the court for a few months, and won’t play competitively once the summer’s over. Wimbledon fans are disappointed by this decision.
In preparation for the US Open in New York City in August, Rafael Nadal will rest his body following a string of injuries in his career.
