Being ready for fans disagreeing with you on air is an entry level requirement for talkSPORT hosts but it’s not often you have a famous popstar digging you out over the phone.

Well, Hugh Woozencroft had that experience on Thursday as Olly Murs called out the Kick Off presenter for ‘talking nonsense’ and being ‘negative’ about their beloved Manchester United.

The Red Devils regained their place at the top of the Premier League as they got the better of Fulham on Wednesday night.

Woozencroft isn’t getting carried away when discussing United’s title chances this season – but Murs is certainly enjoying the ride.

And Murs made that very clear to our man, grilling Woozencroft via Andy Goldstein’s phone for not having enough belief in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men in a hilarious call.

Murs said: “Hughie? What are you talking about? Absolute nonsense on the radio!

“A bit of positivity please! Man United top of the league, let’s enjoy the moment. We’re in the mix to potentially win the league, let’s enjoy it!

“Stop with the negativity come on! You’re a United fan!

“Ole’s doing a fantastic job… he’s at the wheel, we might win the league we’re not even playing that well. Stop saying we haven’t got a chance, we’re in the mix!

“You’re saying that Leicester City have got a chance or Everton have a chance… we’re all in the mix. Anyone can win it at the moment.

“You’re a Manchester United fan, why are you being so negative? What were you like when we were seventh or eighth?”

Woozencroft responded to Murs’ rant by saying he wants Man United to win but would like to see them dominate matches like champions in recent seasons Liverpool and Manchester City have done.

But Murs wasn’t having it, firing back: “Yeah I agree but we’re still learning, we’re still developing.

“Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have had those teams for three of four years. So give Ole a break, he’s only been in the job two years.

“Manchester United go top of the league and all I’m hearing is everyone say how negative we are. Hang on a minute, we’re top of the league, give us some credit!”
