As Christian Eriksen has found out: the grass isn’t always greener.
The Denmark international is hoping to end his Inter Milan nightmare sooner rather than later after being frozen out of Antonio Conte’s first-team plans.
Eriksen, 28, sealed a cut-price £17million move to the Serie A giants this time last year after entering the final six months of his Spurs deal.
However, the experienced playmaker has failed to make his mark at the San Siro and was officially transfer listed last month.
Eriksen, who has made just four Serie A starts this season, has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain – which would see him reunite with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
The Ligue 1 giants are the current favourites to sign Eriksen at 5/4, according to Sky Bet, with Pochettino quizzed on the possibility of the pair linking up once more at his official unveiling as PSG head coach on Tuesday.
“Eriksen? This is not the moment to talk about him,” Pochettino remarked.
“Any big player in the world, I think, is always welcome at Paris Saint-Germain.
“But I don’t need to speak about rumours. The reality is we have just arrived and we are working hard with the players who are available and the players who need to get back from injury.
“Of course Leonardo (PSG sporting director) is in direct contact with us. Paris Saint-Germain is a club with direct structures in place and always keeping an eye on a wide range of players.”
Tom Carroll says Mauricio Pochettino is the best manager that he’s worked under and praises Argentinian for developing him as a player
Arsenal, meanwhile, are 6/1 to sign Eriksen in the January transfer window, with Valencia priced at third favourites at 7/1.
A return to Ajax has also been mooted (10/1), although there has been no concrete offer to date.
Premier League trio Manchester United, Wolves and Tottenham are further down the pecking order, while Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund are both languishing at 20/1.
