Liverpool were ‘disgraceful’, ‘shocking’ and ‘pathetic’ as the reigning Premier League champions lost to Brighton on Wednesday night.

The Reds suffered their fourth defeat of the season already, as the Seagulls claimed a stunning 1-0 win at Anfield thanks to Steven Alzate’s second-half goal.

And this was no smash-and-grab, as Brighton had numerous chances to score while Liverpool recorded only a SINGLE opportunity on the visitors’ goal.

After going 68 games without a league defeat at Anfield, Liverpool have now lost two in as many games, while they have also failed to score in three consecutive home games for the first time since October 1984.

And former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy laid into Jurgen Klopp’s side as the final whistle blew on the Merseyside shock.

“That was pathetic from Liverpool tonight,” began Cundy’s stunning rant on talkSPORT’s Sports Bar. “Let’s call it as it is. That was pathetic!

“They are up against a side, and credit to Brighton they are a good side, but that is the defending champions you just watched there.

“A whimper, disgraceful, shocking… and you know what? History may be repeating itself.

It was another night to forget for Jurgen Klopp

It was another night to forget for Jurgen Klopp

“You look at what Klopp did at Dortmund, when their season imploded; in his final season all of a sudden it went to pot when they went on a run of two wins out of 16.

“This is something that has happened before to Klopp, in Germany. He demands so much, and his demands have been brilliant.

“But are we looking at a Liverpool side now that has just run out of gas? Because that is not the Klopp Liverpool that we have seen over the past three seasons. They went out with a whimper.

“Credit to Brighton, because they deserved it, but that was just shocking!”

The Reds are now seven points behind league leaders Manchester City – who also have a game in hand – and they are only two points clear of West Ham in fifth.

As Liverpool lose first home Premier League game in nearly four years, supporter David says Jurgen Klopp is taking the club backwards and needs to go!

And Cundy thinks Klopp should be looking down the table rather than up it for the remainder of the season.

“There is no chance of them winning the title now,” added the talkSPORT host. “I cannot see them coming back.

“Look at Manchester City… look at what City are doing!

“It is just appalling! They are in danger of missing out on the top four.

“1-0 flattered Liverpool tonight. If that had been three or four, no one could have complained.”
