Spare a thought for Southampton and Jan Bednarek – but also the Fantasy Football managers waking up to an absolute nightmare after red cards galore on Tuesday night.

Saints lost 9-0 for the second time in just over a year and finished the match with nine men after an early red card to Alexandre Jankewitz and a late one for Bednarek.

Replays appeared to show Martial was NOT fouled… but the penalty was still given

Three of United’s goals came after Bednarek was controversially dismissed in the 86th minute, despite referee Mike Dean watching video replays which appeared to show Anthony Martial had dived.

It’s since been described by talkSPORT pundits Danny Mills and Hugh Woozencroft as a ‘disgrace’ and the ‘worst use of VAR in Premier League history’.

And as he left the field, the Polish defender could be heard saying: “Martial said it’s not a foul!”

That will do little to comfort the one Fantasy Football manager who triple-captained Bednarek, who also scored an own goal to cap off a miserable night.

The 24-year-old finished on a grand score of MINUS SEVEN, meaning the one FPL boss who played their triple captain chip on the defender got minus 21 from Benarek’s score alone.

Using your one triple captain chip on a Southampton defender away at Man United is a truly flummoxing decision – and one which deservedly got punished.

Bednarek was one of three players sent off on a dramatic night of Premier League action – which also saw Arsenal pair David Luiz and Bernd Leno given their marching orders in the 2-1 defeat at Wolves.

Luiz’s red card was equally controversial – and it also left more Fantasy Football managers in a dark place.

It was later revealed that 31 bosses own all three of Luiz, Leno and Bednarek – resulting in a score of MINUS ELEVEN from just three players.
