After missing last year’s Euros, Karim Benzema has been selected to play for France this summer.

The 33-year-old last scored for the French against Armenia on October 13, 2015 — nearly six years ago — and has been regularly involved in Deschamps’ squads since he took over as head coach in 2012.

After being implicated in the attempted blackmail of his former Real teammate Mathieu Valbuena, Benzema’s international career ended abruptly, and the Real man was declared by prosecutors earlier this year to be facing trial.

The French team’s door had been closed to Benzema up until now, after controversial comments about Olivier Giroud and Chelsea.

While Benzema has now joined their ranks along with veterans Matuidi and Mata, Deschamps is hoping to defeat France in Euros this summer.

In LaLiga and the UEFA Champions League, Benzema scored 28 goals and assisted eight assists this season, making him Real Madrid’s best player.
