Tomas Soucek labelled the Premier League’s ‘best box-to-box midfielder’ as stunning stat about West Ham star emerges

There’s no better box-to-box midfielder in the Premier League right now than Tomas Soucek.

That’s the view of Jamie Carragher, who heaped huge praise on the West Ham star ahead of their clash with Leeds on Monday night.

West Ham have been one of the surprise stories in the Premier League this term. They’re currently seventh in the table and qualification for the Champions League spots is a real possibility.

Soucek has been at the centre of West Ham‘s success, having scored eight league goals this season.

The Czech international boasts more impressive stats with Carragher shedding light on his aerial duels won which stands at 150 before the clash against Leeds.

On Soucek’s aerial duels won, Carragher said: “This is just off the scale. No midfielder in the last ten years has managed that many… since Marouane Fellaini!”

Soucek’s has developed a great rapport with Declan Rice, talkSPORT’s Jason Cundy labelling them ‘the best midfield partnership in the Premier League.’

Rice, who can also play at centre-back, has been hailed for his flexibility, but former Hammer Rob Green believes the England international can play elsewhere.

Green told Sky Sports: “He’s just a fantastic footballer.

“He can play at centre-half and I think he can play in a more advanced role, he is that good. If you’ve got a fantastic footballer at the heart of your team, you’re onto a winner.”
