Moussa Sissoko says his Tottenham teammates must follow Jose Mourinho’s tactics to win silverware this season.

Spurs have not lifted a trophy since 2008, but face Man City in the Carabao Cup final in April and are still in the Europa League.

They have a manager in Mourinho who has won trophies at every club he has managed during his illustrious career.

And despite winning just three of their last 11 Premier League matches, Sissoko insists Mourinho’s ‘plan’ will help end the club’s lengthy trophy drought.

He told talkSPORT: “Everyone knows he’s a great manager. He won many things at different clubs, that’s why the chairman decided to bring him here.

Tottenham have wanted to win something for many years. We were always close to winning.

“Maybe this year we have a good opportunity to do it. The manager knows how to win trophies, we are already in a final of one cup and we’re still in the race for the Europa League.

“So let’s follow his plan, let’s give our best on the pitch. If we can reach the final of the Europa League and try to win those two competitions, it will be great.

“He knows how to do it, so we have to trust him and follow his tactics.”

Harry Kane, who has scored 21 goals this season, will be vital to Tottenham’s trophy hopes.

The England captain made a goalscoring return in last weekend’s 2-0 win over West Brom having missed previous defeats to Brighton and Chelsea with an ankle injury.

Sissoko added: “He’s a key player for us and we know that. Everyone in the world knows the importance of Harry.

“For many years he’s been one of the best strikers in the world. So to have him in your team or playing without him, you can see a massive difference.

“I’m happy for him, I’m happy with what he’s doing and he’s working very hard for it. He deserves it.

“I hope he’s going to do his best to try to bring trophies to Spurs because the club need it. He’s going to be important for us.”
