West Ham United are being offered the chance to sign £25million-rated Patson Daka from Red Bull Salzburg to replace Sebastien Haller, according to reports.

The Ivory Coast international moved to Ajax for a fee of £20.25m just 18 months after joining the Hammers to leave boss David Moyes with only one recognised senior striker.

Although Michail Antonio has enjoyed a remarkable career resurgence playing through the middle under the Scot, he has already spent large periods of this season injured.

Zambia international Daka has scored ten goals in 14 league appearances this season since stepping up to the plate at Salzburg in place of outgoing striker Erling Haaland.

According to the Mirror, the 22-year-old is keen to move to the Premier League and former West Ham and Tottenham striker Frederic Kanoute is his agent.

The striker is not following in only Haaland’s footsteps by scoring regularly for Red Bull Salzburg, but also Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.

Daka, who was named the Confederation of African Football’s Young Player of the Year in 2017, believes he has the drive and the talent to emulate his heroes in the English top-flight.

“To see our big brothers like (Pierre-Emerick) Aubameyang, (Mohamed) Salah, (Sadio) Mane, it’s something that gives me the dream that I can also make it,” he told the BBC.

“I can be like them. They are my inspiration, knowing that they also come from Africa.

“I think when people are making those kind of comparisons, it’s great, looking at the status of Sadio Mane, the kind of football he plays and the kind of person that he is.”
