Ian Wright has urged Arsenal to give Mesut Ozil the money he wants and to “move him on”.

The Gunners have made an awful start to the new season. They are winless in seven Premier League games. This leaves them in 15th in the table with just four victories from 14 games.

Included in this poor run have been defeats to Aston Villa, Tottenham and Burnley. Last time out they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup via a convincing 4-1 defeat to Man City in their Quarter-Final.

F365 FEATURES: Arsenal v Chelsea: One big game, five big questions

Arsenal’s form in the Europa League has been excellent, however. In that competition, a few of their youngsters have been given the chance to shine. The likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Joe Willock and Folarin Balogun have all impressed.

Ozil has been frozen out by Arteta this season. The midfielder has not been included in their squads for the Premier League or Europa League for the first half of the campaign.

Speaking during The Kelly and Wrighty Show, Wright insisted that Arsenal’s young players deserve a run in the Premier League:

“With the manager and the players he’s picking now, people like Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock and those guys, I’d like to see them have a chance.

“You’re looking at the Willians, it’s not happening and he’s not playing well. Why are you playing people like Kolasinac and Mustafi? I’d rather see Saliba, who is playing in the Under-23s, I’d rather see Smith Rowe and something different.

“To the people upstairs: give Mesut Ozil the money if you’re not going to play him and move him on. Same with Kolasinac and those players in and around the club and aren’t going to contribute – that’s what he needs, players who are contributing.

“Arsenal have to realise they’re in a situation that can get worse and if they do lose those games against Brighton and West Brom… those games are must-win games.”
